Samsung Electronics America is today kicking off “Tackling Sundays,” a new campaign designed to help people do more while enjoying their favorite sports on Sundays – and every day in between – with Samsung TVs and connected products. Tackling Sundays

“While tens of millions of Americans tune into their favorite sports games each week, a huge percentage also report multitasking because they’re distracted with chores and other activities. The Samsung team of connected screens, appliances and mobile devices can help make sure you never need to take your eyes off the ball,” said James Fishler, Senior Vice President, Home Entertainment & Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “Your Samsung screen not only delivers incredible picture quality, but also serves as the connected hub to your home. Using your Samsung TV, you can do everything from set up SmartThings laundry notifications[2] so you don’t forget the wash is done, check inside your Family Hub fridge for your favorite game day snacks, or even mirror your Samsung Galaxy phone to video call a friend and watch together in Multi View– all without missing a big touchdown.”

The first deal kicks off this week: on Sunday, Sept. 24, you can score $1,000 off the Samsung 98” Class QLED 4K TV (model Q80C), plus free delivery & in-home installation. The ultra-large screen brings every pass, throw, and interception to life in a big way – delivering rich detail, and super-precise arrays of color and contrast.

In addition to big screen savings, Samsung is teaming up with its favorite friends – like businesswoman Martha Stewart, actress Rosario Dawson, former professional football player and tech founder Carl Nassib, and musician Dermot Kennedy – to show how they’re tackling their weekends with Samsung. About the Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 by a group of American citizens—businessmen and financiers as well as leading artists and thinkers of the day—who wanted to create a museum to bring art and art education to the American people. Today, The Met displays tens of thousands of objects covering 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy. The Museum lives in two iconic sites in New York City—The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters. Millions of people also take part in The Met experience online. Since its founding, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum’s galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and across cultures.

1 A single user subscription for Art Store costs $4.99/month or $49.90/year.
2 The auto-rotating wall mount is sold separately and is compatible with the 2022-2023 models of The Frame in 43”, 50”, 55”, and 65” class screen sizes.

Samsung Adds 4TB Capacity to 990 PRO Series

The 990 PRO and 990 PRO with Heatsink now offer more space for games and files, and boast best-in-class speeds

Samsung Electronics America today announced the release of a new 4-terabyte (TB) offering in its SSD 990 PRO series for gamers and creators. The 990 PRO series includes high-performance PCIe1 4.0 SSDs powered by eighth-generation Samsung V-NAND (V8) technology and an enhanced proprietary controller.

Offering blazing-fast speeds and ultimate power efficiency, the 990 PRO series is optimized for massive data volumes, such as 3D/4K graphics work, data analytics and high-quality games, making it the ideal SSD for today’s PCs, laptops, game consoles and computing systems. With improved total bytes written (TBW) ratings of up to 2,400TB, the 990 PRO series ensures increased SSD reliability and longevity, ideal for those with highly demanding workloads and large storage capacity needs.

“We recognize that people need more innovative storage options to meet their day-to-day needs – whether they’re downloading games over 100GB or accessing high-resolution content that shows beautifully vivid detail, the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB series delivers the perfect solution, enabling people to save even more games and content to their libraries without compromising on download or upload speeds,” said Jose Hernandez, Senior Director of Memory Product Marketing at Samsung. “The 4TB doubles the maximum capacity of the Samsung 990 PRO series, its fastest drive, while keeping a slim design to fit into an ultra-thin laptop or game console – so no matter the system, you can upgrade the storage in your device.”

Best-in-class Performance and Capacity

Featuring Samsung eighth-generation V-NAND technology and an improved controller, the 4TB 990 PRO and 990 PRO with Heatsink offers nearly the highest speed currently available from the PCIe 4.0 interface2, with sequential read speeds of up to 7,450 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 6,900MB/s.

The newly expanded capacity of 4TB delivers boosted random read and write speeds of up to 1,600K and 1,550K IOPS3 respectively, making it the ideal solution for gamers, creative professionals and technology enthusiasts seeking top-tier performance and large storage space.

With the fastest random read performance among the PCIe 4.0 interface consumer SSDs on the market4, the 4TB 990 PRO series significantly reduces mid-game stalls and accelerates the loading of high-quality videos. This gives gamers uninterrupted gaming sessions and an immersive experience. Content creators will see their videos load faster, saving them time to edit or keep creating.

For high-end games that support the latest in game-loading technology, the 990 PRO series can help reduce lag, allowing users to enjoy real-time gameplay experiences with consistently high frames per second (FPS).

Enhanced Power Efficiency and Reliable Thermal Control

The 990 PRO series achieves breakthrough power efficiency, with an up to 50% performance improvement in comparison to the previous 980 PRO series. It also incorporates a nickel coating on the controller and features a heat spreader label on the back side of the SSD, ensuring optimal temperature level maintenance and minimal performance fluctuations over time.

The 990 PRO with Heatsink is also equipped with an effective, slim heatsink. Furthermore, the drive is compatible with the latest game consoles, so it can speed up game installation and loading times, while also preventing performance drops that can result from overheating.

Single-Sided 4TB SSD for Ultra-Slim Laptops

Thanks to the Samsung V8 1Tb high-density NAND and its memory stacking technology, the 4TB 990 PRO series is designed with a single-sided M.2 form factor, which makes it slimmer than other double-sided M.2 SSDs. The single-sided M.2 form factor of the Samsung 990 PRO series can be installed in ultra-thin laptops without worry.

Availability & Samsung Magician Software

The 990 PRO 4TB (MSRP: $344.99) and 990 PRO with Heatsink (MSRP: $354.99) will be available for purchase at Samsung.com and select retailers in October 2023. The 1TB and 2TB models of the 990 PRO series are currently available for purchase.

Samsung Magician software ensures optimal performance in SSDs by keeping firmware, drivers and other settings up to date, while also offering the flexibility to customize power and performance optimization. Moreover, the software supports RGB functionality for the 990 PRO with Heatsink, so gamers have the option to customize color and LED effects. The new version of Magician 8.0 is set to be released later this month, ahead of the 4TB 990 PRO series availability. It is an integrated software solution for Samsung SSDs, portable SSDs, memory cards and USB flash drives.

“Years ago, TVs were reserved for your living room, either mounted on the wall or in an entertainment center. However, just as people are evolving what they watch and how they watch TV, they are also expanding where they watch. We’re seeing a greater demand for TVs that can be experienced from a variety of non-traditional places, such as while camping, on the ceiling, or even in the great outdoors. The Terrace makes it easy to enjoy your favorite shows, movies, and games – now, on an ultra-large screen – while outside in your backyard,” said James Fishler, Senior Vice President, Home Entertainment & Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “The Terrace series has also become one of the stars in the Samsung CI portfolio, so it’s only fitting that we’re debuting our largest and best spec’d outdoor TV at the biggest CI event of the year. We can’t wait for attendees to check it out.”

The 85” Class Terrace is available at $19,999 on Samsung.com.

Outdoor Optimized Technology

The new model features an improved Neo QLED panel that allows you to experience incredible 4K clarity with 100% Color Volume for a billion shades of brilliant color that won’t wash out in extreme brightness. With Direct-Sun Protection1, you can watch TV even in direct sunlight. Plus, it sports an improved IP56 rating that assures protection from water and dust, so you can enjoy your favorite entertainment year-round. The Terrace is complete with a Wide Viewing Angle and Anti-Glare screen that make it easy to watch what you love with nearly no reflections or distractions.

The 85” Class Terrace effectively reduces onscreen motion blur, so everything from your favorite movie scenes to the on-screen action of Sunday football stays smooth. Equipped with the Quantum Processor 4K, the TV can automatically upscale content into 4K, reduce image noise, restore lost detail, and offer crisp definition regardless of the input source, in addition to HDR10+ and support for multiple simultaneous video feeds.

Designed for permanent outdoor installation, The Terrace provides an ultra-large and comprehensive solution for high-end backyard theaters. With an HD Base-T™ receiver built-in, custom installers can run a single LAN cable to The Terrace to extend HDMI connected devices.[2]

Smart and Improved Features

Also new to this year’s model is support for Samsung Gaming Hub. Gamers can now access their favorite titles from a portfolio of over 3,000 games from streaming partners like Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Utomik, Antstream Arcade, and Blacknut – no console required.[3] With Auto Game Mode, you can even play faster on a screen that’s optimizing for gaming.

A full smart TV experience, The Terrace runs on the Samsung Tizen operating system, so you can access over 600 apps and control nearby smart devices using SmartThings directly from the TV. It also includes Samsung TV Plus – Samsung’s free ad-supported TV (FAST) and video on-demand service (AVOD), which gives access to over 2,000 channels globally and thousands of on-demand shows and movies.

The 85” Class Terrace includes the Samsung SolarCell Remote, which uses a solar panel for convenient charging, whether it’s located indoors or outdoors. The PRO Ultimate is durable and offers worry-free usage even in the most hostile environments. It features water protection for up to 72 hours in submersion of up to two meters deep, drop-proof protection from heights of up to five meters and wear-out protection for up to 10,000 swipes. Galaxy Buds2 Pro Evolves LE Audio Capabilities, Bringing New Auracast to Samsung Smart TV

Samsung extends LE Audio capabilities including more immersive audio recording on smartphones, clearer sound experiences on PCs, and now sharing sound on TVs with more people

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new software updates to Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Samsung Smart TVs[1], reshaping the audio experiences across even more connected devices. The new updates extend LE Audio capabilities to Samsung TVs with Auracast broadcast audio technology, enabling rich and complex audio transmission to nearby Bluetooth devices.

LE Audio, an advanced Bluetooth audio standard, broadens the spectrum of audio experiences to deliver more complex and richer sound that goes beyond providing better-sounding music, but also allows users to share sound with others as they personally experience it. As a pioneer of innovative technologies, Samsung has been leveraging new LE Audio-based features that further elevate sound experiences, including 360 Audio Recording, enabling Galaxy smartphone users to capture sound on video precisely as they hear it without the need for professional equipment. Additionally, the select Galaxy Book3 devices[2] offer a crystal clear listening experience with improved latency — perfect for immersive gaming and multimedia consumption.

galaxy-buds2-pro-le-audio-auracast

And now, with Auracast broadcast audio technology for Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Samsung 2023 Neo QLED 8K and 2023 MICRO LED, rolling out via software updates starting this September[3], Samsung is again improving and expanding connected experiences beyond mobile devices to home appliances. With Auracast, users can turn their device into a shared radio station able to broadcast across connected devices. Leveraging the new LE Audio, it allows users to connect multiple sets of Buds to a TV[4] while users could only connect a maximum of two devices previously. Auracast opens a variety of potential use cases and possibilities for further device applications — from augmented or assistive listening in a theater or lecture hall for those who want hear better, to sharing a playlist from your smartphone while on a run with friends, and even multi-language support without translation devices by sending different language interpretations via different channels.

“As an innovator across a wide range of electronic devices — from smartphones to wearables, and from TVs to home appliances — we at Samsung are in a unique position to capitalize on delivering more seamless and extended experiences,” said Junho Park, VP and Head of Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics. “LE Audio is a perfect example that shows our commitment to connected experiences across our entire library of devices, and how Samsung is introducing new capabilities and technologies that bring them all together.”

The new Auracast feature is just one example of how Samsung is connecting devices and services and offering novel experiences to users. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements of Samsung’s connected experiences to be shared at this year’s IFA event, held this September 1-5 in Berlin.
